ATG’s latest innovation is the aerBlade ™ electronically controlled window shade. aerBlade ™ is designed specifically for the commercial airliner as a direct replacement for manual shades with a total cost of ownership that rivals the manual OEM shade. Models are being offered for widebody and single-aisle aircraft in two versions, either a single opaque (cabin darkening) shade or a dual blind with translucent (light filtering) and opaque (cabin darkening) shades, allowing passengers to choose a clear view, sun-blocking or full blackout.

aerBlade ™ integrates seamlessly blending the window shade with the cabin aesthetics. Airlines can order aerBlade with customized treatments such as graphic patterns, faux fabric textures or other surface finishes to complement the cabin décor. aerBlade ™ is an upgrade to the passenger flight experience. Passengers can control their window shades with the touch of button. Crew efficiency and workload is improved. Flight attendants have the ability to lower or raise all the shades to darken the cabin or open window shades for landing via a master central flight attendant control.

On an aircraft equipped with the aerBlade ™ , passengers don’t grab a handle or touch the window shade at all, just simply press a button. There are also no nooks and crannies where germs can collect because the completely smooth clear lens in front that keeps the shade isolated from the passenger. So, between flight cycles, maintenance crews can just come along with sanitizing products and wipe down the surface easily and quickly.

Equipped with ATG’s NextGen electronic controls, aerBlade ™ provides IoT functionality and connectivity to on-board maintenance and cabin management systems enabling the transfer of performance metrics, remote diagnostics, and programming updates without removing the shade from the aircraft. The advanced electronic controls feature self-learning algorithms and sensor-less control to extend the shade life and provide the quietest operation.

The company is introducing models of aerBlade ™ for a wide range of commercial aircraft including the Airbus A350, A321LR and A321XLR and Boeing 777 Series and 737 Family of aircraft.
